River Trip

Ah, Labor Day! A day to relax and kick back and what could be more relaxing than 3 days on the river?

We started on Friday, camping in Fruita at the put in. There was a pretty good crew; Clint, Jeannie, Cam, Jeff, Cathie, Camy, Mike, Alice, Nate, Mike 2, Laura, Jonathan and Simon. I didn't really know Mike 2, Laura or Simon, but after 3 days on the river, well, I know them now.

The next morning we awoke and started rigging the boats. As we did, a KREX reporter came up and started interviewing us and asking us about what Labor Day meant to us. (see below)

We put in, our small flotilla of 6 boats and 16 cases of beer, and began to float to Black Rock. We didn't quite make it to Black Rock, but we camped at a sweet spot just before Black Rock. I could go in to more detail, but you know the old saying "What goes on on the River, stays on the River."

The next morning we floated to the Westwater put in where Cam, Cathie, Camy, Mike and Alice left us. We were bummed to see them go, but it did leave some room in the boats.

We camped that night at Upper Little D, a sweet spot just before the Room of Doom.
