Moving Sucks! - part one

River Trip

Ah, Labor Day! A day to relax and kick back and what could be more relaxing than 3 days on the river?

We started on Friday, camping in Fruita at the put in. There was a pretty good crew; Clint, Jeannie, Cam, Jeff, Cathie, Camy, Mike, Alice, Nate, Mike 2, Laura, Jonathan and Simon. I didn't really know Mike 2, Laura or Simon, but after 3 days on the river, well, I know them now.

The next morning we awoke and started rigging the boats. As we did, a KREX reporter came up and started interviewing us and asking us about what Labor Day meant to us. (see below)

Mountain Fair '08 - Friday

Another July and another Mountain Fair in the books.

For those that don't know, the Carbondale Mountain Fair is a rocking good arts and music festival put on by the Carbondale Council for Arts and Humanities the last full weekend of every July. Three days of music, crafts and fun games like womens wood splitting. There is men's wood splitting as well, but there is just something more fun about watching women wield a maul.

Tour de Carbondale

Finally Friday! It had been a long, tough week, with loads of stupid stuff swirling about my desk, so when it was over I stopped by Rich's office, had a couple of beers and shot the shit for a little while. After that, Adriane and I went to the Pour House to meet a couple of friends and to have one of the best burgers ever; the green chile, bacon, cheddar burger made from prime Nieslanik beef and served with home made potato chips.

Physical Therapy; Rehab is Court Ordered.

So my mornings are spent trying to return my leg to fighting shape. Stationary bike, stair master, leg lifts, leg presses, mini-lunges, mini-squats. It is all quite, well..., we must do it.

I was sitting at the Pour House having a nice meal with the wife, when one of the bar denizens came over to say hello and shoot the shit, when I mentioned that I was rehabing the knee. His response was "Therapy. Rehab is court ordered." I chuckled at that and then he stayed 5 minutes longer, or 5 minutes too long, to be exact. However, that comment got me to thinking of the nature of P.T. vs. rehab.
